Eddie McCormack, Area Sales Manager.
The stories behind Laydex’s success are often found in the experiences of our dedicated team members. As part of the anniversary series, this time, we caught up with Eddie McCormack, Area Sales Manager.
Eddie’s insights reveal the dedication and teamwork that drive the business forward every day.

One piece of advice has really stuck with me over the years is that “A sale is not a sale until it’s paid for.” This straightforward lesson came from a respected manager, early in my career. It’s a reminder to always follow through and ensure every deal is properly finalised. That mindset has kept me focused and grounded throughout my career.
When we were at Red Cow, I was called to the trade counter to talk to someone who had dropped in to ask about a product, turns out they knew me from my football days and made a fuss of me in front of the staff. A few pictures later, to say I got a lot of ribbing from the staff was an understatement. I left swiftly with a big red face.
The day-to-day sales is very exciting as well as the continuation throughout the month. But there’s one in particular that stands out from about six or seven years ago. I managed to close a deal worth 100,000€ with one of our leading clients. The level of coordination and detail involved made it very special. We had to work closely with the customer to confirm prices and availability, negotiate cost prices, and carefully manage lead times to make sure the client’s order could be fulfilled on time. It required a lot of logistical planning—checking stock, confirming delivery schedules, and maintaining constant communication between all parties. Seeing that complex process through from start to finish was hugely satisfying and really showed that teamwork and precision are the most important things in sales.

As the weather gets sunnier and longer, it’s natural to start thinking about those delightful summer BBQs with friends and family. To make the most of the season, it’s important to get your garden in top shape.
This is the perfect time for a thorough clean of your garden, refreshing the outdoor space and clearing away the clutter and grime that accumulates during the Winter months. In this blog, we’ll share valuable tips on effectively sprucing up your garden for the summer season while you simplify storage with Rothley’s storage solutions.
The first step towards a successful summer garden is to create a plan. Take a walk around your garden and assess which areas require attention. Make a list of tasks that need to be accomplished and prioritize them. To ensure a well-organized garden and garden shed, consider incorporating Rothley’s range of storage solutions. From twin-slot shelving units to storage and utility hooks, you’ll find plenty of options to help you maximize space and keep your tools neatly stored away.

Before diving into the summer preparations, it’s essential to declutter your garden. Go through each area and remove any unnecessary items that may be cluttering the space. This includes old pots, broken furniture, and unused equipment. Clearing out the clutter will not only enhance the appearance of your garden but also make it easier to maintain during the Summer months.

Is your garden shed or storage area in need of a makeover? Now is the perfect time to optimize your storage options. Look for practical storage systems that can adapt to your needs. Rothley offers adjustable shelves that can be repositioned, allowing you to create custom storage configurations for your gardening essentials. Whether it’s tools, pots, or supplies, Rothley’s shelving brackets and systems will help you keep everything organized and easily accessible.

During your Summer preparations, you may come across tools or equipment that require repair. Take the time to address these repairs to ensure everything is in working order. Once completed, store tools that are not frequently used in your garage or a designated storage unit, keeping them safely out of the way.
For added safety, utilize Rothley’s storage and utility hooks to secure potentially hazardous tools and prevent accidents. Make use of often-overlooked spaces, such as the back of doors, to keep clutter at bay. Install hanging baskets, storage cubes, or spring clips to make the most of this vertical space and keep your garden essentials neatly stored away.

Getting your garden Summer ready is an exciting endeavour that can be achieved with the help of Rothley Storage Solutions. By following these tips, you’ll be well-prepared to enjoy a beautiful and organized garden throughout the Summer season.
